Are you looking for a fun way to get involved in local conservation efforts? This event is perfect for anyone who loves being outside, loves looking for birds, and loves birding with a purpose. Vesper Sparrows are declining in Oregon, and extensive research is currently being conducted on the Rogue Basin population centered at Howard Prairie. Klamath Bird Observatory needs your help looking for Vesper Sparrow fledglings that were color-banded earlier this year. Relocating them will help estimate fledgling survival rates.

Anyone who wants to spend the morning walking around Howard Prairie with binoculars and a spotting scope (provided by Klamath Bird Observatory) looking for color-banded Vesper Sparrow fledglings should definitely sign up for this fun event.

There are two opportunities to get involved. The first event will be Saturday July 28, 7:00-11:00AM at Howard Prairie. A training session prior to the event will be held on Thursday July 26, 6:30-7:30PM at Klamath Bird Observatory in Ashland.

The second event will be Saturday August 11, 7:00-11:00AM at Howard Prairie. A training session prior to the event will be held on Thursday August 9, 6:30-7:30PM at Klamath Bird Observatory in Ashland.

Come enjoy bagels with fellow birders as we wander around beautiful Howard Prairie looking for Vesper Sparrows!
