It is that time of year for Vaux’s Swift conduct their evening swirling acrobatics during fall migration. Rogue Valley Audubon Society members are collecting data every night this month for the citizen science project Vaux’s Happening (https://www.vauxhappening.org/) and eBird at Hedrick Middle School in Medford. Feel free to join them and watch the the chimney show a bit after sunset. It is magic!
Karen Hussey, who has served as our regional amazing swift coordinator and spokesperson, has flown off to the Seattle area to live. Kristi Mergenthaler has inherited Karen’s Google chart that helps organize the community to collect data for Vaux’s Happening at other sites in the Rogue Valley including EdenVale Orchards at the Voorhies Mansion in Medford, the Nunann Estate in Jacksonville, and a new site in west Medford at Iglesia Adventista de Septimo Dia Hispana de Medford, a church on Holly Street by McLoughlin Middle School. Please email Kristi at coprolitemergie@yahoo.com if you would like a link to the google list or more information.
