The inaugural Birds and Beers on September 26 brought twenty people together, many of whom had never met before, for a night of good beer and lively conversation.  The highlight was a Speed Dating game where everyone moved about the room meeting one another and answering different questions such as, “If you could be a migratory bird or a resident bird, which would you choose and why?” The evening culminated with the trivia question, “How many species of raptor are there in the world?”  The correct answer was 557 and the winner won a “vintage” copy of Frank Gill’s Ornithology text book.  Birds and Beers will definitely be a repeat event, so keep a lookout for the next “save the date!”
